Mon Bled (My Country)

Mon Bled (My Country)

I’m not an Algerian or moroccan, I am an Indonesian. But I like this song so much.

Like other maghrebeen music, the lyric is mixed between French and Maghreb Arabic. Sung by three maghreb artists: Rohff, Cheba Maria, and Mohamed Lamine. I think Cheba is a title for young lady in maghreb, like ‘Miss’ in English.

Some interesting point are the sentence ‘Bra’s wladi’ literally means ‘I swear with the head of my children..’ and the word ‘Ana’ (me) is pronounced as ‘Ena’.

‘Mon Bled’ (My Country) lyric tells us about someone who live far away from his country and home, and miss to back very soon.

I’m still in my country, but have been far away from my home for about 10 years till now. Counting down to Eid Fithr, I got my homesick..

Enjoy this song,,
